The are many opportunities for you to get involved in supporting our school. Many of them don't require a great commitment of time. If you would like to learn more about any of the following committees, please contact us.

(Leah Ayers, Kelly Jones) Presides over all board and general meetings. Acts as a liaison Between local unit & council. Attends monthly Kent Area Council Meetings. Meets with executive Committee prior to each PTA Meeting to discuss agenda items.

(Diana Brown, Nicole Hagerty) Attends all board and general meetings. Assist President. Presides at meetings if President is unavailable. Coordinates selection and scheduling of assemblies and programs With the school.

(Cathy Nelson) Attends all board and general meetings. Takes notes and prepares accurate Minutes of each meeting Provides agendas for the meetings Handles correspondence

(Patty Laronde) Attend all board and general meetings Prepare a Treasurer Report for each monthly meeting Keeps accurate records of all income and expenditures Handles the bank account: deposits, issuing checks for payment And reimbursements, and balance checking account Send in necessary forms and tax requirements by required deadlines Acts as advisor for Audit committee and Budget committee

(Shelly Gordon) Provide art projects for 4-6 classrooms.

(Open) Chair is responsible for procuring and logging items, organizing catalog, advertising the event, securing date and location for event. This is a great committee to have co-chairs and sub committees like decorations, bid book, event planner, and procurement. Delegating is a must! Held every other spring. Next auction is spring 2011. Ongoing***

(Kris Waters) Organizing donations of baked goods and volunteers to staff the table at various school or PTA functions including (but not limited to) Elections Day(s) and Curriculum nights. Chair has flexibility on scheduling dates*

(Leanne Struble, Leah Ayers) This PTA event is held during Fall & Spring conference weeks. The chair will help select and work with book vendor and recruit helpers for all aspects of the fair from staffing to set up and removal**

(Amy Erickson, Tina Whitley) Coordinates the collection & submission of box tops. Ongoing*

(Susan Brown) Info to parents. Collect, cut, & count labels before submission for credit. Ongoing*

(N/A) Major event every other spring. Delegation is the key factor in coordination of this committee to recruit teams to help plan and implement games, prizes, and concessions. This is a committee that would be great for co-chairs. Held every other spring. Next carnival is spring 2012. On-going***

(Open) Every school in the Kent School District must provide workers for slotted day(s) at the Clothing Bank located at Sequoia Middle School. Chairperson can run a clothing drive and recruit helpers for the clothing bank.

(Open) Organizing a one time or ongoing community charity program.

(Danette Haisch, Tanya McCormick) Producing a student phone directory for PTA member distribution. Information is provided by district. Fall*

(Tanya McCormick, Cathy Nelson) Purchase and maintain emergency supplies in container. Help to determine and prioritize supply need for school population. Record donations, make money-saving bulk purchases to maintain emergency supply container.

(Serah Silberfarb) This is the major source of PTA income for the majority of programs. Chair works with Board to determine company to work with. Responsibilities include publicizing the event, collecting orders, and sorting for distribution. This is a committee that works great with a co-chair. Busiest right at the start of school**

(Dana Parish, Jill Roth) Organize evenings of entertainment for the families of Ridgewood 3-4 times each school year. Ongoing**

(Open) Coordinate teachers and registration of students. Busiest in fall*

(Tanya McCormick, Jen Samson) Coordinate Escrip/Albertsons. Find available grant dollars, write, and submit grant proposals. Ongoing**

(Heather Smith) Maintaining and updating our website. Forwards E-mails to Presidents. Ongoing**

(Joelle Denney) Coordinate Junior Achievement Program.

(LeAnne Struble, Mark Arund) Attend various legislative meetings and forums to keep our PTA members advised on important issues as they relate to our education situation.*

(Open) Prepare a matching fund campaign to promote donations and matching funds from donor companies. One time*

(Open) A national program, providing math challenges for 5th & 6th grade levels. Ongoing *

(Danette Haisch) Work with National and State PTA campaign to recruit parents & teachers for membership. Busiest in the Fall, but ongoing**

(Open) Prepares and is the editor for our monthly PTA newsletter. Sets deadlines for publication, copies, and distributes the newsletter. Ongoing***

(Open) Coordinate Piano Keyboarding Classes after school with Musical Minds.

(Thuy Ameling, Rich Shoji) Organizes volunteers, collects student orders, pops and bags popcorn and distributes to classes every Friday and other school events. Maintain popcorn inventory. Ongoing**

(N/A) On going efforts to support our PTA through donations of money and products from individuals & company sponsors. Items needed for committee prizes as well as for our 2011 spring auction. You will need to work with auction committee as not to duplicate efforts. Ongoing**

(Open) Organizes the units’ participation in the National Reflections Program which includes planning, organizing, & publicizing event. Provide judges, rules, and awards. Main effort in the fall**

(Open) Coordinate work parties to weed, plant, spread bark, and spruce up the school grounds. As needed in the fall & spring*

(Jim & Heather Smith, Leanne Struble) Plans & organizes a science fair. Provide judges, rules, and awards. Spring**

(Ferrah Gerber, Jennifer Goin) Provide parents and students opportunity to purchase school spirit apparel. Chair selects a company, advertises to our students and families, collects orders and delivers the clothing. Usually offered in the fall*

(Joelle Denney, Shannon Fernandez) Chair decides what, when, how often, and how much is done. Organize volunteers and work within budget to procure lunches, baked goods, services and other forms of appreciation for our staff. Ongoing **

(Ms. Bloss, Mrs. Henderson) Acts as liason between teachers and PTA.

(Open, Miryka Schneider, Denise Thom) Organize show, auditions, acts, and guidelines for participants. Secure volunteers. Spring **

(Stacy Hayden) Coordinate Teacher Wish Lists

(Open) Assist board & staff in recruiting volunteers for various activities throughout the school year. Ongoing*

(Leslie Spengler) Provide weekly E-mail updates to PTA members.

(Open, Miryka Schneider, Denise Thom) Organize a big picnic with food, games, and community information booths for our students and families. Planning is during the summer. Event right after school starts**

(Andrea Victoria, Kristine Miron) Chair determines company to work with and deadlines. Gather pictures of events throughout the year and assemble the layout for classroom pictures. Ongoing, but busiest in spring**
